This outdoor swimming pool near Newbury had become tired over time. The original bag liner was faded and bleached, the tile band was stained, and the surrounding paving and copings had darkened with age. The timber pit lid was also deteriorating and rotting in places, leaving the whole pool area in need of a considered refurbishment.

The client wanted to upgrade the pool and create an outdoor space they could feel proud to show guests and enjoy spending time around. With their daughter’s wedding due to take place in the garden, the pool area also needed to sit comfortably within a wider setting for family celebration, entertaining and photographs.

Harlequin removed the old bag liner and carried out remedial repairs before installing a Prana on-site liner by Aquaflex. This gave the pool a richer, more refined finish and helped transform the appearance of the water. The deteriorating timber pit lid was replaced with a composite lid, providing a cleaner and more durable solution around the automatic cover pit.

The old copings and paving were lifted and disposed of before new Antique Fossil Pearl paving and copings were laid around the pool. The paved area was enlarged, creating a more generous and practical space for loungers, seating and entertaining. Slimline stainless steel ACO drains were installed to provide discreet, effective drainage while maintaining the clean appearance of the new surround.

As part of the refurbishment, Harlequin also serviced the automatic cover and the pool plant, helping ensure the pool was not only visually transformed but also ready for continued use.
