Harlequin Swimming Pools Limited was founded in 1973 by Michael J Kinge in Sherfield on Loddon, near Basingstoke. What began as a husband-and-wife operation quickly grew into a trusted name in swimming pool construction and maintenance across mid and northern Hampshire and surrounding areas.

In 1982, Harlequin became an approved member of the Swimming Pool and Allied Trades Association (SPATA), committing to rigorous British and European Standards, industry best practices, and providing customers with access to independent dispute resolution and comprehensive insurance protection.

A second office in Alresford was opened before operations were consolidated in 1997 to a purpose-built facility at Innersdown Farm near Micheldever.

In 2011, founders Michael (Mick) and Jan Kinge passed the business to their son, Mike Kinge, who had worked alongside them for many years. Under Mike’s leadership, the company maintained its commitment to quality while adopting modern techniques and sustainable growth practices.

Service Manager Andy Watson, with over 30 years at Harlequin, joined the board as a director in 2024. Then Glen Etherington, originally trained with Harlequin as a builder and service engineer, also became a director after merging his established landscaping business with Harlequin.

After more than 50 years, Harlequin continues to serve Hampshire and surrounding areas as a leading swimming pool specialist.
