This new build swimming pool, situated between Basingstoke and Winchester in the SO21 postcode area, was designed primarily as a sport and fitness pool. The client approached Harlequin through a local recommendation, while an associate and neighbour was already having a pool built by the company.

The brief was to maximise the size of the pool within a constrained garden and create a practical pool for swimming exercise. As part of a wider landscape designer’s project, the pool also had to work technically, visually and spatially within the overall garden design. Limited, shared access added further complexity, requiring careful planning and daily coordination throughout the build.

The finished pool measures approximately 8m x 3m, with a depth ranging from 1.2m to 2m. It was built using block construction, with smooth rendered walls, a screeded floor and a Renolit Byzance on-site liner for a refined, durable finish.

A key feature is the EvoStream 450 Swim Jet, providing the resistance needed for fitness swimming within a compact pool. Bespoke steps were designed to avoid disrupting the swim jet currents, while two Adagio LED lights, a Calorex IPT16 heat pump, UV disinfection, a bespoke electrical control panel and a Sage Green Aquamatic automatic cover completed the specification.
